1. Who we are, and what you’re agreeing to

SemaWrite is a voice-first novel-drafting app: you speak your story, and SemaWrite transcribes and organizes your own words into a manuscript. By creating an account or using the app, you accept these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use SemaWrite.

2. Your writing is yours

You own everything you make here — every recording, every transcript, every line of manuscript text. SemaWrite never writes prose for you; it transcribes and organizes only the words you actually spoke. Exports contain your words and nothing else. We claim no rights over your work beyond what is technically necessary to store and process it for you.

3. Subscriptions

SemaWrite offers auto-renewable subscriptions billed through the App Store. Each tier includes a monthly allotment of recording-processing hours: Starter includes 4 hours, Writer includes 15 hours, and Prolific includes 35 hours per month. Optional top-up hours can be purchased separately and are only ever an explicit, opt-in purchase — never a silent charge.

The 7-day free trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings. Unused included hours don’t roll over between months; purchased top-up hours persist until you use them.

4. The free taste

Signing in with Apple or Google grants 30 free minutes of recording processing, once per person. Creating accounts to farm free minutes is abuse, and may result in suspension.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t use SemaWrite for anything unlawful, and don’t attempt to disrupt the service, circumvent its limits, or reach other users’ private data.

6. Processing and availability

Transcription and organizing run on third-party AI services. We aim for the service to be reliable and accurate, but it is provided “as is” and “as available,” without a warranty of uninterrupted service.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. Deletion removes your recordings, transcripts, and manuscript data from our systems.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SemaWrite and its founders are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.

9. Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters, we’ll tell you — through the app or by email — and post the updated terms on this page.
